Using Zapier, TARS Bot Makers can seamlessly integrate their chatbots with their favorite CRMs and ERPs to ensure peak marketing performance.
In this tutorial we will show you how you can use this integration by walking through a basic example where your lead data gets captured in a Google Sheet.
Step 1: Go to the Data Integrations Section of the Bot
To begin with, navigate to the Data Integrations Section for the bot (check the menu on the left under “Check Data”
Step 2: Accept the Invite
Since the TARS Zapier App is currently in beta you will first need to accept the online invite to use it.
Click the blue start using Tars now button and then the Orange Accept Invite & Build a Zap button to accept your invite.
Step 3: Start Making a Zap
Once you’ve accepted the invite, click the orange Make a Zap button at the top right of your Zapier dashboard.
Step 4: Select a Trigger App
Every Zapier integration is made up of a trigger step and an action step. In this tutorial the trigger step is the completion of a conversation in a TARS bot and the action step is the creation of a row in Google Sheets to capture that data.
To set up this mechanism you first need to select a trigger app. In this case, look up TARS in the search bar and select the correct option from the dropdown and hit Save + Continue on the next screen.
Step 5: Connect your TARS Account
For Zapier to access your bot’s conversation data you will need to connect your TARS account in Zapier. To do so it the Connect an Account button, Authorize Zapier and Hit Save+Continue to move to the next step
Step 6: Using the Search Bar, select a chatbot from which you want to send data from and DO NOT HIT SAVE + CONTINUE
Step 7: Before continuing to the next step in Zapier, you want to generate some sample data in your bot.
To do this, open the bot you selected in Zapier and have a complete conversation with it.
Step 8: Switch back to Zapier and hit Continue
Step 9: On the next screen, Zapier should show you the sample data that you generated in the conversation with your bot.
Make sure everything is correct and hit Continue
Step 10: Select an Action App
Just like we did for the trigger step, we need to setup the Action Step. In this tutorial we are going to use Google Sheets as an Action Step
Step 11: Select an Action
Within each action app, there are several actions that can be triggered. In Sheets for example you can , amongst other things, search data, create a row or create a worksheet. In this tutorial we want to create a new row for each lead so select the Create Spreadsheet Row option and hit Save+Continue
Step 12: Connect your Google Account to Zapier
Just like Zapier needed access to your TARS account to read conversation data, it needs access to your sheets account to populate your sheet with data. Connect your Sheets account and Continue to the next step
Step 13: Select the spreadsheet and worksheet you want to populate with your lead data
In case you are unaware, you can create multiple worksheets within a single spreadsheet in Google Sheets at the bottom of the sheet.
Step 14: Populate the Zapier Template
Once you select the spreadsheet and worksheet, Zapier will reveal a set of fields corresponding to the column headers in the sheet.
Use the sample data we generated before to populate these fields and hit Continue
Step 15: Send the test data to your sheet
Step 16: Check Your sheet to make sure that the sample data was populated correctly and hit Finish
Step 17: Name your Zap and turn it on
Your zap is complete and your lead data is automatically transferred to Google Sheets!
